This is the traditional divorce option where you file a complaint or lawsuit against your spouse for the divorce and request the litigation of all outstanding issues such as equitable distribution of property and alimony.

It is typical in these cases that you hire a law firm by paying a large retainer, followed by monthly continuing legal bills. The longer your case last and nasty it gets, the more the legal bills pile up.
